CHOBHAM 3s v LONDON CORNISH 3s

Chobham 3s 15 - London Cornish 3s 24

Please note that this has been edited heavily from the 3s skipper's original draft due to libel, bad language and above all some terrible use of English. Kieron - "luckish" isn't a word! Getting there was a disaster, due to late starts and massively bad traffic on the A3 because it was closed…anyway we eventually got there but people got lost on the way, so tried short cuts, some had to stop for petrol, others - Feltham and Branch decided they wanted to go via Guildford.

Luckily I managed to get the number of the club secretary and let him know we were running late, get the exact directions and let everyone else know where to go.... eventually got there and had the kick off put back to 2:40, started with only 15 players, Chilly went to hooker as Ed wasn't there yet, David Morris went to flanker and Branch had to start even though only wanting 20 minutes. We had 5 minutes of touch as warm up but started the game well, everyone seemed p*ssed off about the traffic so got their game heads straight on, but Chobham are a gnarly old bunch and were working it well in the forwards and got a push over try. We then scored a good try through Ben Hufton, showing good gas out wide. I then had to come off as my back gave way again, although it was due to a one handed tackle with my super strong new w*nking arm!! Ed came on for me and went to hooker allowing Jim to play 8. They then had a sustained period of attack camped in out 22, some absolutely awesome defending, particularly from Chilly, Gobbler and David Morris to stop them getting over the line and eventually they settled for a penalty that they converted - that defence was a huge psychological win. Not sure what side of half time this happened but Floody scored a good try - he mopped everything up at the back and was dangerous everytime he countered.

Then definitely in the 2nd half they scored a luckish try which their 13, refusing to pass, almost fouled up. This left the score at 15-12 to them. Oh, James Colby came on at half time for Ben Hufton and David Morris moved out to centre and Tim Hayton came on after 50 minutes for Jim Chilcott. 10 minutes to go and spurred on by some passionate Cornishmen on the side line - well me, Jim went for a shower and OJ... They had a scrum just inside their half, our forwards had performed far better in the scrum in the 2nd half and were now the better in this department, Jon Feltham got involved and kicked the ball from the scrum half's control, chased the ball down and finished well, then got up to convert the try putting us an important 4 points in the lead. We then just had to hold out, Chobham's old boys were panting now but were still dangerous in our 22, every Cornish player wanted the ball or man or both now though and secured an important turn over and also managed to get on of their players sin binned for rucking. We then worked the ball up field with some lovely running and support play and scored in the corner after a champagne dummy from Mike Lunn. I think it was Neil Sullivan who touched down, not sure, but it was a great team try and an absolutely massive team performance. Next play whistle went and I enjoyed shaking the hand of there gutted injured captain on the sidelines who had rather vexed me off with all the nonsense he'd been shouting. Star performers were Jim Chilcott, awesome performance and leadership. The two props did fantastic against the old boys, especially Gobbler who was involved in a lot of open play too. Ed Shield did well at hooker and was pretty fired up which is always good. Mike Lunn also had a good game at lock (I mentioned the dummy). The backs all had the beating of their's but Jon Feltham was particularly good scrabbling ball from the base of the scrum, some safe kicking and scoring an important try. So MOTM would be between him and Gobbler, Gobbler gets it though because he was there on time!
